eating disorder treatment
DISORDERED EATING
Early Intervention Is A Key Our first step in treating eating disorders is to get the behaviour stopped. And during this time we use psychotherapeutic techniques to find out why our client has adopted disordered eating as a survival strategy.
We then make biochemical restoration our priority. It isn’t possible to get an eating disorder in check if neuro-chemical deficiencies are causing cravings. This is the missing link in most treatment programs today. People leaving many treatment centers relapse almost immediately due to anxiety, depression, insomnia and cravings when neuro-chemical balance has not been achieved.
Next, using EMDR and other psychotherapeutic approaches, we treat the underlying psychological causes of the disorder.
Self help and complimentary therapies that we use to reduce stress and keep it down include self hypnosis, EMDR's butterfly technique, biofeedback, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, biofeedback, reflexology, massage and aroma therapy.
We also work with our clients to complete the 12-Steps and take them to support groups.
A family program involving individual treatment plans for each family member that may include one or more family members living in the treatment facility for some or all of the period of treatment.
An intensive after care program for the client and family members. It involves daily telephone calls for the first critical period of time, connecting with other people in recovery in the client's home community when appropriate, return visits or a Küsnacht Practice team member visiting the client monthly and then quarterly for the first year and then on a declining frequency until the end of year three.
