Amino Acids - The Key To Good Mental Health

Balancing Brain Chemistry Is Our Priority
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. They build the cells, repair tissues, are responsible for the production of enzymes, and play a key role in mental health.

The breakdown of proteins into amino acids is the first amino acid function. From here the amino acids combine with nitrogen where they can then be transformed into thousands of different protein forms that the body can use.

The amino acids we work with at the Küsnacht Practice are those that are involved in the production of the four neurotransmitters that are involved in good mental health. The four neurotransmitters are: serotonin; catecholomine; GABA; and endorphin.

There are 23 amino acids. Of these there are 10 the body cannot produce. These are called the essential amino acids and must come from the food we eat.
