1. You are preoccupied with gambling (eg. Preoccupied with reliving past gambling experiences, handicapping or planning the next venture, or thinking of ways to get money with which to gamble).
2.You need to gamble with increasing amounts of money in order to achieve the desired excitement.
3. You have had repeated unsuccessful attempts to control, cutback, or stop gambling.
4. You are restless or irritable when attempting to cut down or stop gambling.
5. You gamble as a way of escaping from problems or of relieving feelings of helplessness, guilt, anxiety, boredom or depression.
6. After losing money you return another day to get even (chasing losses).
7. You lie to family members, therapists, or others to conceal the extent of your involvement with gambling.
8. You have committed illegal acts like forgery, fraud, and theft to finance gambling.
9.You jeopardized or lost a significant relationship, job, or educational or career opportunity because of gambling.
10. You rely on others to help solve a desperate financial situation caused by gambling.
Scoring The Gambling Addiction Test:
If more than 5 of the above are true for you then you display compulsive gambling behaviour. In short, you are a pathological gambler. This condition is treatable. Contact the Küsnacht Practice or another professional addictions counselling service and attend a meeting of Gamblers Anonymous .
